40 years after “The Final Countdown”

Inspiration

There are movies that we like and remember, there are movies that we don’t like and remember… but there are movies that shaped who we are today.

In my case, one of those movies is “The Final Countdown” from 1980, the movie about the crew of the (in that time) modern and powerful aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz that traveled back in time just before the attack on Pearl Harbour.

That movie is directly responsible for my love of the fighter aircrafts, and especially the F-14 Tomcat and A-7 Corsair II. The images of mighty machines with the insignias of the VF-84 “Jolly Rogers” and VA-86 “Sidewinders” from the late ’70s and early ’80s remained deeply engraved in my memory.

And that’s why I had to represent them in my builds, to pay a tribute to the movie that participated in making me who I am.

And in the future, it has to be a CVN-68 USS Nimitz” too, of course 🙂
