As my first 3D modeling/printing project, I’ve chosen MiG-21 ground equipment for two reasons – first, as a former MiG-21 mechanic, I’m quite familiar with these, and second, I’m going to need it for my MiG-21 vignette/diorama project.
Since I’ve just started learning 3D modeling, I’m trying different free 3D modeling applications. For no special reason, I did this in Tinkercad.
I’ve started with the ladder, and test printed it. Succeeded in 3rd attempt – I have a lot to learn. Although there were some mistakes with supports and print settings, and also a space for improvement, I was satisfied because I learned what can I expect from the printer. The print size is 1:48.
Then I made a wheel chock model. It’s not perfect, but it will look OK after some sanding after the print.
After that, I also made intake and exhaust covers and also a tow bar and fire extinguisher.
You can see and download the models for free (not commercial) from the:
Tinkercad: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/0ARYMFPMGDy
Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5231851
The models are in a 1:48 scale.
The set is not finished. I will add more equipment and update the existing ones until I’m satisfied.
